Close to a decade ago, I had just moved to a new town, was unemployed, and volunteering at a local community art center sorting papers. One day the director popped her head in and “voluntold” me to teach a painting to class to a group of 15 6-8 year olds the following week. I protested, but she wouldn’t take no for an answer! I’m so glad she didn’t because that first class made me fall in love with teaching art to kids. 

Last year we moved to Brunswick, Md. I decided to start teaching classes from our home, and converted our little sunroom into an art studio. Since then we’ve had our home filled almost weekly with the sounds of kids laughing and creating art, and larger classes are held at our second home, First Baptist Church Brunswick, right down the street.  

Every week I am filled with so much joy as I get to see creativity and self-confidence bloom from the kids who join my classes. I hope to see yours in class soon!
